Downtown Farm
is a mile from the centre of Lydford (but only ¼ mile from excellent food pub) and ½ a mile from the open moor (rivers/pools for swimming), two semi-detached cottages and one farm house annex on a 12 acre open farm (featuring many rare breed cattle, sheep, goats and birds). Designed and furnished to a high standard, each has its own enclosed paved patio (table/chairs and barbecue) garden with wonderful south-westerly views (brilliant sunsets). Small pond, orchard with childrens play area (slide, swings), very peaceful. Great for two family parties to share.

Bring your horse on holiday (good riding area). Stabling and grazing available. Hay and feed pre-bookable. I week stabling £25, with turnout £45 payable on arrival. Food can be ordered. Contact:-

Eating in

We can supply chilled ready to cook meals with 24 hours notice or you can order frozen.

They are locally made using local produce.

If you want a meal prepared for a special occasion just ask for details. Alex the Chef will either deliver to your door or come and cook and serve if requested.

Tender West Country minced beef slowly braised with onions and red kidney beans in a mild chilli and tomato sauce.
Serving suggestion: rice and top with either cheddar or parmesan.

2. Beef Bolognaise S/ £5.00 M/£15.00 L/£20.00 (£2.50 per person)

Tender West Country minced beef slowly braised in a rich red wine, onion and tomato sauce.
Serving suggestion: with spaghetti and top with cheese.

3. Italian Meatballs S/ £7.00 M/£21.00 L/£28.00 (£3.50 per person).

A blend of West Country minced beef and pork meatballs, individually hand rolled, in a smooth and rich tomato sauce.
Serving suggestion: with rice or pasta and top with either cheddar or parmesan.

4. Beef Casserole S/ £7.00 M/£21.00 L/£28.00 (£3.50 per person).

West Country beef slowly braised with onions, carrots and courgettes in a red win and tomato sauce.
Serving suggestion: with mash or jacket potatoes.

Sliced West Country pork sausages and potatoes braised in our own thyme infused chicken stock.

West Country pork sausages and slices of red onion braised in a red wine and redcurrent jelly gravy.

Layers of West Country minced beef, fresh pasta and cheese sauce makes this classic dish.

Succulent pieces of West Country of lamb fillet braised in rose wine, freshly made chicken stock and cannelloni beans.

11. Fillet of Lamb Hot Pot S/ £8.50 M/£25.50 L/£34.00 (£4.25 per person).

Tender pieces of West Country lamb fillet slowly braised with onions and carrots in our own lamb stock with slices of potato top and bottom.
Serving suggestion: with steamed seasonal vegetables.

Pudddings

12. Rhubarb Crumble £1.95 per person

Seasonal rhubarb lightly poached in a vanilla syrup topped with a traditional crumble.
Simply serve with ice cream.

13. Sticky Toffee Pudding £1.95 per person

Individually baked date sponge made with free range eggs, topped with a dark and sticky toffee sauce. Simply serve with Devon clotted cream.
