Open Farm We have all historic British rare breed of cattle, sheep, goats and ponies. Set in quiet surroundings, the animals can be viewed at close quarters in small paddocks. A nature walk around the farm takes in a half acre wetland garden which has been constructed on a marshy field. The different paddocks which cover 12 acres with a pond area and a small children's play area. The new tea-rooms and shop providing welcome home made refreshments and selling home produced meat (beef), lamb and pork along with a selection of farm goods and knick knacks. There is also an education room with information about the animals, closed circuit TV into the lambing and calfing pens. Watch the pigs and birds without them seeing you. All in real time (with some recordings when out of season). Animals Walk around the well kept land looking at the selection of native historic breeds, all on the endangered list. English White Park Cattle, British Whites, Lincoln Reds and Welsh Black (cattle) along with Portlands, Ronaldsay, 2 & 4 horned Jacobs, Soays, Welsh Black Mountain and Grey Faced Dartmoor sheep. The views are spectacular. The wet land is developing well and with cafe, childs play area and ample car parking, a good day out for all the family. The Farm Shop sells home grown veg and fruit and home grown beef and lamb. Meat boxes available. |
